BILLY JACK NICHOLS (1/28/52 - 7/15/07)
Col-Met Spray Booths lost a very special man, a great friend, and a very loyal employee of ours back in July. "Billy Jack Nichols was the second employee I hired 10 years ago", says Eric Jones, President of Col-Met, "He was such a skilled draftsman who specialized in truck booths. Billy was a great employee. He was here working hard everyday, helping our company be the best it could be. Billy was well liked by everyone here…I miss him a lot."
Billy Jack was an avid coin collector and a huge music buff - homegrown Texas music, progressive country, and the blues. Name any song and he could match up the band or group, and vice versa. He was a kind, patient and thorough man who always had a cheery disposition. Billy Jack is, and will continue to be, missed.
A recollection of Robbie Owens, Inside Sales Manager: "Billy actually dreamed about paint booths. When I worked with the Engineering department proofreading drawings, on several occasions Billy Jack came to work and said 'Hey, did you put that job into the shop yet?' and I would say 'No', and he would say 'Wait a minute, I had a dream last night and I think I need to change something'. He would go look at the drawings and say 'Yep, there it is'. After this happened a couple of times I told the guys in Engineering 'If you get caught sleeping on the job you will be fired. But if you notice Billy Jack sleeping on the job, please be quiet and don't bother him. He's working."
Rest in peace, Billy Jack.
